MAP
MAP is a diagnostic tool to help the teacher know where the students are in reading and math and what their gaps are. Once the teacher knows what gaps each student has, she/ he can plan instruction with this in mind. This is also helpful for the ESL student- however, they might know more that the MAP score shows. One reason is that one word in a question can throw them completely off and make them not understand what is being asked of them. In this case, it is good to go over the necessary vocabulary for their RIT range. (which can be found on the NWEA website) Below are some resources:
